Eating
I will die of starving those days. One meal a day was a normal thing in this week. Lazy and picky might kill myself. I am very particular about my food. No matter hoe hungry, I am if the food is so bad I will not eat them anyway. Sometimes I feel I was starving but I still cannot eat anything I dislike instead. Since I came to United States, the biggest issue for me is to get used to the food culture. We do ear burger and pizza as our dinner, we eat rice every meal. I do not like to eat things that have not been cooked. I cannot stand everything with cheese and ketchup. This kind of food I can only eat once a week, I guess, more than once I will not feel very well.
I am from south part of China - Sichuan. Our area is famous for hot and spicy food. We eat spicy food everyday. The “hot pot” is famous all over the world. We eat “hot pot” no matter winter or summer. Every one knows that Chinese eat together and use chopstick. I enjoy many people in one table and sharing food. If I want to eat Chinese food in here, actually, it is not very hard to find. No matter what the taste of food cannot be the same. No other way to so I just get use to eat in this place. I can eat a lot when I was eating in the Chinese restaurant.
Eating is most important part of our life, so ear what you like to eat and learn to eat what is new. If you have chance to eat food all over the world, it must be very cool thing to try.
Shopping
I am a crazy shopping fan, I love shopping very much. I am crazy about beautiful clothes. I do not know if it is a kind of illness. Since I saw my favorite clothes, I did not buy it right away. When I went back home I would feel somewhat stressed. Therefore, I would rather buy them if I do not want to feel that way. I am crazy about shopping reveals on my shopping attitude, sometimes I know I should not have buy so much clothes, because I have already had so many clothes. Nevertheless, when I went to malls or shops I just could not help myself purchasing clothes. Sometimes I feel it was so bad. I do not want to squander money in that way, I should not waste too many money on clothing. I am writing about this because I went shopping again today. I thought I was so addictive to fancy clothes that I must think of quitting. I promised myself today I would not go shopping before I going back home. I could not afford myself doing this. Gosh! Do not take me to any shopping area and do not tell me that some shop is on sale. I promised that I must obey it. Please, watch over me my friends! Hope I am not eating my word.
Girls like dressing beautifully, of cause it is a good thing. We have born to have rights to make us look beautiful and lovely. That normal and should be recommended but we cannot do it overly beyond the margin. I guess I have been realizing it for a long time. However, I just could not stop myself going to beautiful clothes.
Free writing
I will go back to my home(Chengdu) in four weeks. I am really anxious to say my family and friends. As the day nearby the more times, I think about my family the more I miss them. I have not seen them almost one year. I miss my mother father and sister.
The dishes my mother cooks and the games I used to playing with my sister. Things become more precious when you loss them. You always ignores you mother when she urged you repeatedly to do something. You even imagine if one day without their chattering life will to more wonderful. One day you do have to live on your own, you will find out without their help, life seems to be more out of control and irritating. At that time all the chattering just like a key to your life make you more clearly to do what you should do and what you should not do.
Every time my little sister break into my room and disturbing me when I was doing my on business. I really need to focus on the thing I was doing. I was getting very mad and shouting at her:” Do not touch my staff, leave me along.” Sometimes, she asked me to play games with her. I was just try to temporize her and run away. When there is nobody trouble you like that you will think how cute and how sweet she is. Her lovely smile and her sweet voice when her hello you through the phone.
I love them because they are my everything, they are the most important and precious people in the world. They are my whole world.
This is my first time to go to a reading meeting like that, also the first to take the extra credit. It was April 2 a windy day. Lu and I went together we waited about one hour but we did not see anyone. We thought it was canceled any reason, however we did not receive any notice about that. I did not want to give up, anyway, We decided we stay unless we got some further information.
Soon we see someone in our class she said the place changed to 4200.We get there soon, fortunately, the meeting has not begun. We grabbed a chair and were sited.
I looked around found not so many people attend, actually, it was not a big meeting. I do not know what I was going to do at the beginning. Should I take notes? Should I make a recording? I took out of my notebook supposed to write something on it.
Someone did a introduction, as the meeting has began. I switched my attention to it. When someone said let’s welcome Joshua to give us a introduction about the writer. I thought it was you .I searched the whole room wondering you have came yet. However, it was other Joshua. He gave the brief introduction to the first author who would read to us later. Her name is Danielle Dutton. She teaches fiction writing at Naropa University in Boulder. She is the author of Attempts at a Life, which was released last moth from Tarpaulin Sky Press, and a novel, SPRAWL, forthcoming from Clear Cut Press. Her writing has appeared (or will soon) in journals such as Fence, The Brooklyn Rail, 3rd bed, Octopus, and NOON, and she is currently the Associate Editor of the Denver Quarterly.
She was wearing a black frame glass and black sweater. When she talked, you would never believe she is a writer. I thought a wrier should be very patient, well organized and clearly. In reverse, she was reading so fast. I could not catch up her. In addition, she was checking her watch now and then. I did not know why she was hurry about. I just give her some suggestion if she gives reading to audience like that she should be patient and read with her heart.
The second writer is Stephanie Young. She was better than Danielle Dutton. And what he wrote I think was very interesting.

This is the headline of this ad, using this kind of headline to your ad will easily draw the attention of customs attention, the first strategy of composing this ad is success. Therefore, I think this ad is appealing a group of people that know and boycott the tobacco anyway even the products from the tobacco company. We all know cigarette has no positive effect on our health. Many people want to get rid of it from our life. They will try their best to get rid of it in every way.
The ad tries to interpret that you buy their product is not to cause more cancer you just withdraw the money you spend in cigarettes and spend them in the food so that reduce the causes of the cancer.
Smells good
The most attractive product of Calvin Klein to me is fragrance. I happened to see a commercial of C&K perfume in the TV. I was involved in the commercial. It make me has impulse to get one. You can tell from Calvin Klein’s most ads no matter fragrance, jeans or underwear. It utilized sex appeal in the ads as a convention. A typical characteristic imply the other simple of Calvin Klein.
I choose a picture from one series of C&K fragrance- Eternity. This advertisement is for perfume it is about scent. Once I read a book about the scent of the body. It said that originally, everyone has its own scent and everyone has a distinctive scent. Like unnoticeable attraction signal, the specific scent pulls one and another together. Therefore, man and woman find their love due to the special attraction from scent. Those attraction cause affections and works like sex appeal. I believe fragrance has the same but stronger effect on both affections and sex appeal. The ad utilized with sex appeal effectively as I said and as we all know. One of the most important reasons for people wear perfume is to be more attractive. From the ad, we it will make the audience think if I wear the same perfume as the ad, I will be more appealing. Therefore, through the sex appeal the ad effectively conveyed what the specialty of the product. When you see the ad, you would persuade yourself having the same attraction as the model do in the ad.
The formation elements of this image are very simple and easy to discriminate. The image is composed by a kid and the walk behind him with the painting of evil. I analyze this image individually. The real character of this image is a kid and you can see him running anyway. He seems scared by something or he is trying to run away from someone. I guess maybe he is playing games with his friends and they are chasing with each other.
The painted wall is behind the kid, his is running trough it right away. Who painted the wall it looks like some commercial or some naught guy painted it for fun.
Either of them are doing this on purpose, but when these two different element meet together happen a incredible effect. It is perfect and dramatic.
The color of this image is black and white. I talked a lot above. The size of both character are proper. I like the way the author convey this image and the language he interpreting his idea. He just find a balance point of all these element and combine them smoothly. The focal point is obvious and readable. However, it is hard to catch the genuine idea of the image what he is really try to tell us. In spite of this, if the reader really engaged in the things the author shows to us. It does not matter what you think it is but matters you whether you get something or not.
The author is a self-taught photographer. We can look into his images you can realize his works not limited in the traditional photography. He composed his images by using both painting and photography. He utilizes these resources appropriate and appreciable. Audience would always feel like go to a gallery. All the works are there both entertaining and thoughtful even more than your expectation, because he breaks the traditional idea of both painting and photography. If you take either element of them away, it will never be anything. In addition, you will hardly have the opinion that he is doing this on purpose. You can easily believed that they were all coincidence and the author took them by accident.One thing I did mentioned in last post is the color of his images. Although all of them are black and white, you will never think it is out of style or hard to understand. You will easily get a conclusion, the season why he made these images colorblind is the story he want to tell through the images is better conveyed in only black and white. For instance the image I select is about a devil is chasing a kid. In everyone’s imagination devil only show up at night with no soul and real body. He is just a shadow. When he show up you that means you will fall on evil days. When devil comes all the things are involved in dark and black even in the daytime.
I choose a picture from Brazil photographer named Alexandre Orion. I like his style of the picture. This one is my most recommendation. It is like a old black and white photo. Most of his works is this kind of style.
The photo seems like a ghost is chasing this littler boy. He is trying to run away, finally, he loss and caught by the devil. It seems like the devil is forcing this boy taken some kind of poison so that he can control his soul let him work for him. It strikes me because his perspective of taking this picture. From his work, we almost see a realistic devil in front of us.
This key of the picture is that the devil is not real just a raw wall painting. In addition, the kid run pass it, exactly as if the devil is chasing him. At that time, the photographer caught that moment. The perfect combination of the new style of photography makes picture much more vividly and attractive.
